Africa-Press – Angola. Investments in the energy sector covering Huíla have been completed, the Matala Hydroelectric Development, Friday, inaugurated by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço.

The project includes the electrification of the town, the sectors of Freixel and Kandjanguitty, as well as the neighboring municipality of Quipungo, at a cost of 106 million, 940 thousand, 676 euros, borne by the Spanish company Elecnor.

The Gove-Matala-Lubango corridor is underway, on a 220 kV line budgeted at 97 million, 366 thousand, 880 USD, also to be executed by Elecnor.

Under the responsibility of the Ministry of Energy and Water, other projects that have already been contracted, but have not started, are planned, such as the Gove-Chipindo-Cuvango-Jamba corridor, on a 220 KV line, including the mining area of ​​Cassinga, the electrification of Chipindo, Cuvango and Jamba budgeted at 196 million, 789 thousand euros, borne by the Turkish Pak Yatirin, but which is awaiting the signing of the financing agreement.

In the same situation is the Cuvango-Cuchi-Menongue corridor, of 220 KV, which will cost the Angolan State 222 million, 999 thousand, 523 euros, borne by CME of Portugal.

In this effort, according to a report from the supervisory ministry, there are also photovoltaic projects that include 15 mini grids and 26 isolated systems destined for Jamba, Chibia, Quilengues, Caluquembe, Caconda, Chipindo, Matala, Quipungo, Lubango, Cacula and Gambos.

These municipalities cover the localities of Hoque, Chiange, Cutemba, Negola, Bambi, Capelongo, Jamba, Cassinga, Mulondo, Quihita, Chibemba, Impulo, Uaba, Galangue, Dongo and Capunda Cavilolngo, with a budget of 838 million, 142 thousand, 661 USD, work that will be carried out by the American company Sunafrica and the Angolan company Omatapalo.

Projects in the study phase and in preparation

Among them is the rehabilitation of the 60 kV Lubango-Caraculo-Moçâmedes Transport Line (LT), commissioned by the Spanish company Elecnor, worth 14 million 440 thousand 139 dollars, to be carried out over a period of 14 months.

Also noteworthy is the 220 KV Lubango-Moçâmedes interconnection, the contract for which will be carried out by the Japanese JIKA, with values ​​and execution deadline not yet defined.

The electrification of communities along the LT Gove/Matala, in the Milho Triângulo, involving the municipalities of Caconda, Caluquembe and Chicomba, from the contractor Elecnor, in financing of 89 million euros, for a period of 18 months.

The Huambo-Lubango interconnection at 400 kV, commissioned by the company DAD with a budget of 220 million dollars over a period of 26 months.

Power supply to the Quilengues region at 220 kV, including the mining area, contractor not yet defined, but with the possibility of a public-private partnership (PPP), with a budget of 99 million 272 thousand 625 euros, for a period of 18 months.

Finally, there is the power supply to the Chibia region at 60 kV, including the agricultural area, with the contractor not yet defined, at a cost of 44 million 470 thousand 730 euros, to be carried out in 12 months.
