Africa-Press – Angola. The 5th Ceremony of Distinctions, as part of the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of National Independence, closes on Wednesday (10), the last day of the session scheduled to honor some 743 individuls and groups.

The first day of tributes of the 5th edition concluded late Tuesday afternoon with the recognition of 93 of the 100 entities in the Independence category and 275 in the Peace and Development category.

Producer and television announcer Frederico Gonçalves Júnior “Kayaya Júnior” was the final honoree, in a ceremony that concluded with a cultural moment hosted by singer Yola Semedo.

Among those honored on Tuesday (09) are personalities from several areas such as politics, sports, culture, education, and health, among others with a particularly noteworthy are former Secretary of State for Health Franco Mufinda and the Commander-in-Chief of the National Police, Francisco Ribas.

Handball coaches Filipe Cruz and basketball coach Carlos Dinis, as well as singers Ângelo Boss, Anselmo Ralph, and the popular kuduro musical group Lambas do Sambizanga, are also among the honorees.

In the Independence category, veterans Agostinho Katolo “Dia Perigo,” António Francisco Africano “Zeca Africano,” João Joaquim Cardoso “Janguinda,” and Pedro Sebastião “Caporal Sete” stand out, whose actions during the armed struggle are a benchmark of bravery and dedication to the national cause.
