Africa-Press – Angola. The Dondi Local Synod, in the municipality of Cachiungo, province of Huambo, hosts, in August 2025, the jubilee of the 50 years of existence of the Youth Society of the Evangelical Congregational Church in Angola (IECA)
The fact was made public at the closing of the 1st Directive Council of the IECA Youth Society, which took place from the 3rd to the 5th of this month, in the city of Huambo.
In the final statement, it recommends the creation of partnerships and alliances with national and international organizations, for better functioning of this religious segment.
The participants also defended the selection between the construction of a school, medical post, pastoral house, technical-professional training center, library and orphanage, one that would be the 50th anniversary Jubilee project, to better celebrate the golden anniversary of the Youth Society, expected to bring together
more than 30 thousand young people.
They consider it necessary to create mechanisms for greater integration of young people in church activities and their participation in decision-making bodies, for provincial directors to meet with provincial secretaries, to deal with matters linked to the Week of Prayer for the Unity of the Society of Young People between others are also included in the recommendations.
The event held under the motto “Young Christians, called to a mission”, chosen for the 1st Board of Directors of the IECA Youth Society in the country, appears to awaken this social segment about their purposes on earth, as well as discourage the short-sighted and irresponsibility in carrying out missions, inside and outside the church.
IECA, founded on November 11, 1880, by the American missionaries Bagster, William Henry Sanders and Samuel, was recognized by the Angolan Government on January 24, 1987, under Executive Decree no 9/87 and, under Registration no 1, of October 24, 2005 from the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights.
It has more than three million faithful, distributed across 12 missions and 2620 congregations.
