Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, António Francisco de Assis received, this Monday, a delegation of businesspeople from the United Arab Emirates who intend to invest in rice and avocado production in Angola.

The delegation showed interested in investing in the provinces of Malange, Bié, Cuando-Cubango and Lundas North and South, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forests on Facebook.

A E20 Investment Dubai is responsible for the project, and guarantees that Angola has all the necessary conditions for the implementation of the rice and avocado production project, and e already has in country for more than 90 days, agronomy experts, who are carrying out all prospecting work in the aforementioned provinces.

Investors need 5000 hectares for rice production and 500 hectares for avocado production and intend to invest around 30 million US dollars, which could generate approximately 300 direct jobs and around 1000 indirect.

According to the publication, the investors said that in the project’s maturity phase they will be able to reach 40 to 50 million dollars.

Antonio Francisco de Assis guarantees institutional support from the government of Angola, for the materialization of projects that, in addition to the private sector and the government, aim to family farming with producers locations.
