Africa-Press – Angola. The Action Plan to Promote Employability (PAPE) has already generated 116,000 jobs and exceeded the forecast of 83,500 jobs, after almost three years.
Conducted by the Ministry of Public Administration, Work and Social Security (MAPSS), the Plan that began in 2018 is expected to be concluded in the first quarter of this year, according to the Secretary of State, Pedro Filipe.
The numbers that were also recently presented to the deputies of the 5th Commission of Economy and Finance of the National Assembly, by the Secretary of State of MAPTSS, point to the generation of jobs in the 18 provinces of the country, with emphasis on the provinces of Luanda, Huíla and Moxico.
“We had very encouraging results, although they fall short of what the employment needs of young people in Angola are”, admitted the official before the deputies.
Opportunities opened up for young graduates, unemployed, entrepreneurs who needed support to make their businesses viable and young people who wanted to start their entrepreneurial activities.
The program had a target of 60,000 short and medium-term courses, reaching 53,366 graduates, in the order of 86% completion.
This number joins others that took place in the normal schedule, which in recent years were more than 280 thousand courses given, according to the Secretary of State, Pedro Filipe.
With PAPE, according to MAPTSS, more than 31 thousand professional kits were distributed at national level, in specialties such as plumbing, carpenter, electrician, painter, tiler, welder, mason, locksmith, hairdresser, sewing, agriculture, between others.
In the period, 2018/2022, the Program reached the target of 10,000 micro-credits, of which 6,995 have already been granted, which corresponds to 69.95%.
In terms of professional internships, more than six were registered in different areas.
Restructuring of the PAPE
According to the source, some PAPE support programs will be restructured and incorporated into the priority programs for the implementation of the national Employment policy and strategy 2023-2027.
The 2023-2027 strategy plans to contribute to increasing employability, within the scope of the national employment policy and strategy.
These are programs such as professional internships, promotion of self-employment and entrepreneurship and coordination.
