Africa-Press – Angola. ustomers of the National Electricity Distribution Company (ENDE) in Huambo accumulated, from 2014 to the present date, a debt worth 6.8 billion Kwanzas, revealed the local director of the institution, Manuel Nascimento.

He said that of the total amount of the debt, 1 billion and 307 million were contracted by institutions and private parties.

Manuel Nascimento said that the company has been negotiating with debtors to recover the amount, through awareness campaigns for payment in installments, without, however, resorting to coercive collection or cuts, as this should happen in the last resort.

For this purpose, he said, ENDE has been counting on the support of the Media in the massive awareness of customers, in addition to negotiating visits to large customers, between public and private institutions.

He highlighted that collection activity is directly proportional to the supply of electricity, hence the importance of regular and continuous payment, with a focus on improving the conditions of the services provided.

New Year’s Eve with guaranteed supply

On the other hand, Manuel Nascimento said that the technical and material conditions were assured, for the normal supply of electricity, mainly in the municipalities of Bailundo, Caála and Huambo, as well as in the commune of Calenga, questioned to the national electrical system, from the dam from Lauca, province of Malange.

The official added that the same conditions were created for the other eight municipalities, which benefit from energy from thermal and hybrid sources.

The director of ENDE in Huambo called for the population’s collaboration in protecting public electricity distribution means, with a view to preventing theft and vandalism, especially in this festive season.

The institution currently controls over 94,000 consumers in Huambo province, a figure well below demand, taking into account the population density of this region of the country, estimated at over two million 600 thousand Kwanzas.

Of the more than 94,000 customers, only 39,000 are in the prepaid system, while the rest are in the postpaid system, a situation that encourages them to escape payment, but whose main reason is the weak social culture of remuneration for public services.
