Africa-Press – Angola. Women entrepreneurs from Cunene province highlighted this Friday, in Ondjiva, Cunene province, the benefits of peace in the field of commercial activity and productivity.
In a statement, on the occasion of the 4th of April, Day of Peace and National Reconciliation, the entrepreneurs stated that in the last 21 years they have been able to circulate freely around the country, looking for businesses to sell.
Valentina Carlos, who has been a trader for 30 years, acknowledged that before the peace it was difficult to look for business goods in other provinces, due to the armed conflict that devastated the country.
He said that, since the achievement of peace in 2002, the circulation of people and goods across the country has become easier, in the purchase of businesses such as dried and fresh fish and other products from the countryside.
Eugenia Maria, a 27-year-old trader, stated that, in this era of peace, commercial exchanges and sales have improved, as before they suffered attacks along the way, with loss of life and business.
“With peace, we travel day and night, throughout the national territory, we buy goods and sell products such as massango, maize meal, pork and chickens at retail”, he stressed.
Rosa Mingo recalled that people were prevented from traveling to the interior of the country, due to insecurity, but now they can move freely.
He referred that currently it is possible to sell more products and have more income in the business, to support the family and pay school fees for children in schools.
Maria de Carvalho stressed the importance of consolidating the preservation of peace, for the reinforcement of social and economic stability, ensuring the improvement of the quality of life and well-being of Angolans.
After having lived decades of its history in war – from 1961 to 1974 against the Portuguese colonial power and from 1975 onwards a fratricidal war, in 2002 the Angolans managed to silence the guns and start a process of national reconciliation.
The peace of April 4, 2002, considered the country’s second greatest achievement, after National Independence, on November 11, 1975, calls on all Angolans to preserve it.
