The Angolan Media Regulatory Entity (ERCA) recommends that, during elections, media managers should resist the temptation of partiality and seek to be equidistant and impartial, representing all the sensibilities of society and safeguarding freedom of expression and pluralism. of information.

This recommendation came from the ERCA Board of Directors, which met in an Ordinary Session on Thursday, which focused on the situation of the Media in the country, taking into account the approach of the general elections scheduled for next August.

This exhortation follows the analysis of the latest events resulting from the activities organized by the political parties MPLA and UNITA, on the 19th, in the town of Sanza Pombo, province of Uíge.

The document sent today states that the media and their professionals are not competitors of political parties. “They are, on the contrary, neutral agents of education and mediators, between the facts that occur day-to-day and the citizens who are the recipients of their journalistic pieces”.
