Africa-Press – Angola. The departments of the 1st Tax Region of the General Tax Administration (AGT) and of Customs of Congo Central (DGDA) are meeting in Cabinda, for the discussion on the implementation of the Single Stop Border Post in Luvo, province of Zaire.
In the opening session of the meeting, the director of the 1st Tax Region of the AGT (Cabinda and Zaire), Ricardo Aguiar, referred that, in addition to the analysis on the implementation of the Single Stop Border Post in Luvo, the joint meeting also serves to discuss the joint action plan in the context of reinforcing measures to prevent and combat cross-border fraud.
For Ricardo Aguiar, the Cabinda meeting is the result of a reality that exists between the two countries as members of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the World Customs Organization (WCO), and, within the scope of the trade facilitation agreement , the member countries must dialogue on an ongoing basis, discussing common problems and establishing an agreement, as soon as possible, on the implementation of the Single Stop Border Post.
It is in this perspective, he advanced, that the highest entities of the two tax administrations approved on April 3, 2022 the joint action plan in the scope of preventing and combating cross-border fraud, with the aim of facilitating cross-border trade, guaranteeing the speed of the customs expediency and make trade flow for the good of the populations in both countries.
For his part, the provincial director of Customs and SISA of Central Congo, Alain Tenday Lupumba, said that it is a meeting that strengthens friendship and collaboration within the framework of mutual and administrative assistance agreements.
́ ́Angola and the DRC are two countries that maintain a good neighborly relationship for a long time and materializes through the contacts of their hierarchies, through the reciprocal meetings of their Heads of State.
For the governor of Cabinda, Mara Quiosa, who presided over the opening ceremony of this joint meeting, said that the meeting is framed in the contest of the implementation of the joint action plan for the reinforcement of measures to prevent and combat cross-border fraud.
́ ́The two countries, through their tax administrations, are concerned with the good management of borders, seeking the most correct measures to prevent and repress fraudulent actions that incur therefrom, contributing to the solidification of the coordinated management of borders between states.
For two days, the parties discussed the following: The degree of implementation of the recommendations issued from the meeting on January 25th in Luvo”, “Analysis of the possibility of implementing a joint Inspection Post in the Noqui Region” and “Presentation of the project architectural and urban design of the Luvo Single Stop Border Post.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from AGT/Angola and DGDA/RDC, in addition to the representative of the Consulate of Angola in the city of Matadi (RDC).
