Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan Government remains committed to creating spaces that enable greater employability for artists and promote the country’s culture, said this Friday, in Luanda, the Minister of Culture, Filipe Zau.

Speaking at the first general assembly of the National Union of Artists and Composers, Society of Authors (UNAC-SA), the government official mentioned the progress of projects to create the Luanda Cultural Center, the Palace of Music and Theater and the Artist’s House.

He spoke of the imminent rehabilitation of the Cine Teatro Nacional and Cine Tropical, spaces listed as National Material Cultural Heritage.

In his intervention, the minister highlighted that the artist’s professional portfolio and the memorandum of understanding between UNAC-SA and the Association of Hotels and Resorts of Angola will gain a new dynamic, with the review of the Patronage Law, a process already underway.

He highlighted that with the support of the President of the Republic, all these and other projects will gain great relevance in the country, by boosting works that will contribute to the development of the arts in Angola.

On the occasion, the president of UNAC-SA, Zeca Moreno, called on decision-making bodies to be sensitive in valuing and recognizing artists in their multiple dimensions.

For the official, artists played a fundamental role in achieving Angola’s independence, using music and other types of artistic expressions to boost the fight.

He defended the need for recognition of artists for the contribution they have made to the country, as he believes that culture plays an important role in society.

He highlighted the stability and organization of the national artistic market as fundamental, to allow artists, regardless of age, to value their works.

The assembly will serve to approve the program of activities, budget proposal and preparation of the national congress that will address the current situation in music, theater and dance in Angola.
