Africa-Press – Angola. The Infrastructure Land Management Company (EGTI, EP) was abolished this week, through Presidential Decree 22/24, which delegates powers to related ministerial departments to transfer the management of urban land and/or contracts to Administration Bodies Competent locations.
According to the aforementioned Presidential Decree, dated January 8, the transfer of land management to local administrations must be carried out depending on their respective territorial location.
The Government justifies the measure with the need to proceed with the extinction and liquidation of EGTI, EP within the scope of the State Reform Process and the Resizing of the Public Business Sector and clarifies that “there are no strategic reasons” for maintaining this institution.
Created on March 5, 2015, by Presidential Decree no 58/15, the Infrastructure Land Management Company (EGTI, EP) aimed to meet the need to establish a business structure responsible for the more rational administration of infra-structured land. -structured public and private domains of the Angolan State.
The decision to abolish it comes a week after the Minister of Public Works, Urbanism and Housing, Carlos dos Santos, announced the creation and implementation, this year, of the Parcel Identification Number (NIP) or Single Registry Database, to avoid the constant land conflicts that occur in the country.
According to the government official, the Single Registry Database will allow a parcel of land to have only one owner.
