Africa-Press – Angola. The commander of the Southeast Military Region in Cuando Cubango, lieutenant – general Remígio do Espírito Santo, reaffirmed this Monday, in the municipality of Mavinga, the continued protection of troops in the safety of citizens and democratically elected institutions.
The officer made this reaffirmation at the opening of the Year of Educational, Combative and Patriotic Preparation Instruction 2024/2025, under the motto: “Angolan Armed Forces, firm for Peace and National Unity, held in the 31st Brigade stationed in the municipality of Mavinga, the most 400 kilometers from Menongue, capital of Cuando Cubango.
Lieutenant General Remígio do Espírito Santo highlighted that the Army, in general, and this Military Region, in particular, are the main guarantors of the continuity of the homeland and territorial integrity, National Independence, security of the populations, as well as democratically elected institutions.
“These tasks cannot be accomplished with static soldiers, without the ability to maneuver, technical mastery of the weapons at their disposal, without physical, psychological and moral military skills”, he advocated.
Therefore, according to the commander, the preparation of troops constitutes an imperative upon which armies must enable themselves to maintain knowledge of military art and maintain the physical and intellectual aptitude of their members, taking into account the specificities of tasks inherent to the performance of each person’s functions and according to their levels.
He recalled that it is in permanent training that a soldier creates self-control, confidence and makes him motivated to carry out his duty successfully in his missions.
The administrator of the municipality of Mavinga, Bernabé Luís Baptista, recognized that the existence of the 31st FAA Brigade has contributed to development, as the troops actively participate in the activities carried out by the administration, in favor of the well-being of the population.
The ceremony was attended by the director of the provincial office of Former Combatants and Veterans of the Fatherland, Francisco Manjolo, members of the municipal administration of Mavinga, representatives of Defense and Security bodies, traditional authorities, religious entities and the population of the local headquarters.
