The Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) and other branches of Defense and Security in the country will gain, this year, a military university to prepare the personnel to face with prudence, resilience and determination the atypical situations resulting from the nature of the service they perform.
The announcement was made on Tuesday (08), in the city of Lubango, by the Minister of State and head of the Military House of the President of the Republic, at the opening of the FAA leaders’ meeting, which will take place until tomorrow at the Comandante Conference Center. Bula, located in the Southern Air Region Command.
Francisco Furtado informed that the university will train, above all, troops with “strong temperament from the point of view of patriotic, civic and legal conscience”.
The President of the Republic said that it is necessary to establish a more robust and flexible armed forces, and therefore defended the rejuvenation and re-equipment, in order to give it greater operational capacity.
He referred that the new generation of military personnel must be educated in the noble values that underpin the “thorny and triumphal” march of the former combatants and veterans of the country, who contributed to the achievement of peace throughout the national territory and the process of development and progress of the parents.
“We need to make the Angolan man return to the cultural matrix, to his heroism. This is possible in the barracks and in dealing with the boss and the subordinate”, he highlighted.
Francisco Furtado stressed that the FAA represents an unquestionable pillar in the preservation of stability, defense of sovereignty, territorial integrity and national cohesion, which is why he stressed that its conduct must be guided by the most sublime principles, not letting it fall into the mesh of those who intend to destabilize or create uncertainty in the long triumphal march.
“This patriotic act rooted in Angolans encourages and strengthens us, for which we express a good thing to all the personnel of the Angolan Armed Forces”, he clarified.
He stressed that the crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic showed the need to think about the formation of troops in the country. To this end, he said that the solution is to build a higher education establishment. In this regard, Francisco Furtado highlighted that it is essential to continue investing in the training of troops, through exercises, maneuvers and practical classes in the various specialties, without losing sight of those linked to peacekeeping missions, humanitarian aid , search and rescue.
The Minister of State and head of the Military House of the President of the Republic also said that the ongoing restructuring in the bodies of the Ministry of National Defense and Veterans of the Homeland and in the Angolan Armed Forces will bring improvements in military administration, in the control and management system. of personnel, military and technical, logistical and financial means, thus promoting better living, working and social well-being conditions for officers, sergeants, soldiers and civilian workers.
However, for the materialization of this end, he said that persistence in the acts is necessary, greater interaction between the organs and correcting what is wrong, to create synergies in leveraging the force that ensures an entire work.
Following these guidelines, he added the improvement of barracks conditions, the standard of living and work of the troops, the quality of food and clothing, among other essential requirements, for the well-being of the troops.
He stressed that these are challenges that continue to mark the agenda of the Executive’s priorities, which has spared no effort in creating adequate policies for the current moment, with the approval of legal instruments compatible with the country’s current economic and financial reality, with highlighting the creation of educational establishments in all branches of the Armed Forces.
The meeting of the leaders of the Angolan Armed Forces takes place under the central theme “Reinforce the organization and operational capacity of the FAA, in the light of the Commander-in-Chief’s directive, on the restructuring and resizing of the Ministry of National Defense and Veterans of the Homeland and the Angolan Armed Forces”.
