Africa-Press – Angola. The 3rd Rice Fair ends today, after having started, on Thursday, in Camacupa, Bié, with an offer of 5,000 tonnes of the cereal available for sale, expecting deals estimated at more than 100 million kwanzas.

Information obtained at the site of the event indicates that rice is part of the production of the Camucundo farm, in Camacupa, and that another 40 tons of maize, 25 tons of beans and 10 tons of maize are available for negotiation.

The assistant municipal administrator of Camacupa, Albino Mulanda, said that there are strong expectations that the business will be carried out according to the program for the fair, which is held under the motto “More production, more growth towards the diversification of the economy”.

Forty-eight exhibitors participate in the event, representing producers from Camacupa, according to Albino Mulanda, who expressed confidence that this edition will establish a network of contacts with potential buyers.

The operational director of the Camicundo farm, Paula Lopes, assured that she was able to regularly supply the cereal throughout the country, thanks to the capacity achieved by the company founded in 2008 to obtain the first rice harvest (16 tons) five years later, in 2013.

At the moment, Camicundo has a cultivated area of 900 hectares of rice, although it has a total area of 2500 hectares.

The fair is part of the celebrations of the 53 years of existence of the municipality of Camacupa, elevated to the category of city on April 14, 1969.
