Africa-Press – Angola. As part of the consultations for the pacification of the East of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), President Félix Tshisekedi arrived at the beginning of the afternoon of Wednesday, in Luanda, for a working meeting with the Angolan statesman, João Lawrence.

After disembarking at 4 de Fevereiro International Airport, Félix Tshisekedi was greeted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António.

Last week, the Angolan head of state, João Lourenço, spoke by telephone with his counterpart from the DRC, to address the evolution of the peace process in the east of this country.

The information was disclosed on the official page of the Presidency of the Republic on Facebook, adding that the two statesmen spoke specifically about the cantonment of the M 23 forces, according to the understandings reached within the framework of the mediation exercised by the President of the Republic of Angola.

The Angolan head of state, João Lourenço, chairs the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (CIRGL) and is also the African Union (AU) mediator in the crisis between Rwanda and the DRC.

Recently, the National Assembly (AN) of Angola approved the dispatch of a unit from the Support Contingent to Peacekeeping Operations of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), within the framework of the peace and security process in the DRC.
