Africa-Press – Angola. Moments of great relaxation and excitement marked the closing ceremony of the 4th edition of the African Youth Games, which the provinces of Luanda and Bengo hosted from the December 10 to 20.

Compared to the opening ceremony last Saturday at the 11 de Novembro stadium, today’s farewell saw more people present, filling the stands of the Citadel pavilion with short but symbolic moments.

After the two official speeches, by Mustapha Berraf, president of ACNOA, and the Angolan minister of Youth and Sports, Rui Falcão, the Olympic flame was extinguished and the baton was passed to Ethiopia, the country that will host the 5th edition of the event.

Traditional Angolan dances and a performance by the União Kiela carnival group took over the pavilion, which saw the most distinguished members of the participating delegations joining the group.

More of a recreational moment than a competitive one was the interaction, with family dancing, common in the southern region, dominating the joy of the young athletes and officials.

Held under the motto “Youth in motion, Africa united,” the competition brought together more than 2,800 participants, including athletes and officials, in the provinces of Luanda and Bengo.
