Five years of government: Around 39 thousand people housed in new housing projects

Africa-Press – Angola. In the last five years, there have been immense challenges for the Executive led by João Lourenço. And Housing was one of them.

The construction of houses or the creation of conditions for citizens to build their own housing, the house of their tastes, of their dreams, was among the priorities of the Government’s Programme.

Who home wants home!

Whoever plans a wedding dreams of owning their own home! In other words, with his Kubico, after all, peaceful sleep, family gatherings, our conversations and more, have been a privileged and appropriate space.

It’s a fact, there are more houses for you, for me, for everyone. It’s easier to get.

With the leadership of President João Lourenço, based on results, discipline and focus on the medium and long term, it has been achieved and will continue on the path of achievements.

But than these “jargons” or phrases of the people, the suggestion that “whoever marries wants a home” or “whoever plans a wedding dreams of their own home”, the Government led by João Lourenço looked, above all, to the beyond and to the the deepest issues. For its responsibilities to protect and to be the first and permanent promoter of well-being, harmony and social peace, necessary for the stability and progress of families, institutions, in short, of the Angolan citizen throughout the world. It is in light of its responsibilities, which as soon as it took office in 2017, the Angolan Executive, in the midst of enormous financial challenges caused by the global economic crisis and Covid-19, redesigned and relaunched an ambitious and broad Housing Development Program .

How was the housing program redesigned?

Firstly, the negative consequences of insufficient housing supply were looked at, with a single objective: to identify constraining factors;

Second: the Executive looked at itself and launched itself into the construction of essential infrastructures in land reserves, in support of guided or assisted self-construction, and acted. It distributes plots to families across the country, from Cabinda to Cunene and from the Sea to the East

For now, take note of what is happening in Angola!

In the period 2018 – 2021, a further 887 new lots of infrastructure land in land reserves were made available to the population, which corresponded to a degree of execution of 95.17 percent; in relation to the target programmed for the 2018-2022 five-year period, 14,800 new batches had been distributed. This goal is achieved and curious, with numbers above the projected.

Third: taking into account the positive impact it had on our country’s recent history, the Government of João Lourenço did not suspend the program of construction of centralities, which had been in place since before 2017. On the contrary, it reinforced and expanded the Program with the construction of new centralities and urbanizations throughout the country, that is, more houses for the populations throughout Angola.

“My dream of owning a home has come true. I have a home. And I thank the State. I thank the Government. I thank our President João Lourenço”, said young Mateus Afonso, resident of Centralidade 5 de Abril, in Namibe province.

Number and more numbers than anyone can see. After all, when walking through the streets and through our country, it is impossible not to see residential neighborhoods and buildings of all kinds, such as centralities, semi-detached and single-family homes, among others. Only the provinces of Bié, Moxico, Malanje and Luanda, the four together gained between 2018 and 2022, 7,800 dwellings.

To put it more directly: these four provinces of Angola alone gained in the last five years of João Lourenço’s rule over 7,800 houses. If in each of these houses there are 5 family members, a number that has been presented today as the average of the household, that is to say that 39 thousand people were housed in these dwellings, in about five years, in a period of enormous limitations of order caused by Covid-19 and the global financial crisis.

Government Objectives

What objectives is the Government led by João Lourenço pursuing with this housing policy, which it is carrying out throughout the country, with the achievement of results?

Make easy, accessible and widespread access to…, home ownership. Improve the social, material and spiritual condition of the Angolan, of families throughout the country.

In tomorrow’s edition, read much more of what has been done across the country in five years of governance, even with Covid-19 wanting to get in our way and with scarce financial resources available.

12 centralities

Concluded In cumulative terms, in the period 2018 – 2021, a total of 12 centralities were completed, corresponding to a degree of execution of 100 percent. The completion of this number of centralities had been projected for 2022.

The serious work of the professionals, the organization and monitoring of the authorities, but above all the results-based leadership of João Lourenço, made the completion date of the works to be brought forward. In other words, almost a year in advance, the 12 centralities were completed, even with Covid-19 blocking us all: the people, the rulers, the politicians, and even worse, the builders.

In numerical terms, the 12 centralities allowed and are available to the population as they appear. And as we need to be informed, and to be aware, here are the numbers and distributions:

-Luanda Province (10,428 dwellings);

-Benguela Province (6,000 dwellings)

-Province of Bié (172 dwellings – 1st Phase) – Construction of the Centrality of Andulo;
