Florbela Malaquias Re-Elected PHA Leader National Convention

Africa-Press – Angola. The president of the Humanist Party of Angola (PHA), Florbela Malaquias, was re-elected on Saturday, in Luanda, at the first Ordinary National Convention, with 286 votes, corresponding to 90.2% of the total, in a process in which 19 blank votes and 12 abstentions were recorded.

Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the PHA conclave, held under the motto “Consolidating Internal Democracy,” Florbela Malaquias reaffirmed her commitment to leading the political organization toward new electoral challenges, with the main goal of strengthening the party’s presence in Parliament and entrenching its ideology within Angolan society.

Regarding the reelection, the president considered it a renewal of the members’ trust and a clear sign of continuity and responsibility. “The election hasn’t taken place yet, so I wouldn’t like to get ahead of myself, but, as the only candidate, it is indeed a vote of confidence that imposes new goals and responsibilities,” she said.

Florbela Malaquias highlighted strengthening the party structure in all provinces as a priority for the next political cycle, in a context in which the country has grown from 18 to 21 provinces, which, she stated, imposes greater logistical and financial demands.

“Our party has only two representatives, and this is the basis for determining public funding. Even so, we have made efforts to expand our presence in various parts of the country, despite limited resources,” he explained.

The party leader also highlighted that the PHA proposal is based on a humanist ideology, sustained by the need to combat the dehumanization of society.

When addressing the role of women in the party’s political project, Florbela Malaquias was peremptory, stating that the fight for the valorization of women continues to be one of the PHA’s main causes.

The re-elected president of the PHA, it should be remembered, is challenged by a wing of the party, for alleged misappropriation of party funds, and an impeachment process has been sent to the Constitutional Court, based on an investigation that uncovered some infractions allegedly committed by Florbela Malaquias.
