Africa-Press – Angola. Foreign guests invited to participate in the 50th anniversary celebrations of Angolan independence on November 11 continue to arrive in the country.
Among those already in the Angolan capital are the Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa, Anna Thandai Morake, representing President Cyril Ramaphosa; the Special Envoy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Ali Saad A. Alkahtani; the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations for the Great Lakes Region, Huang Xia; the Comoros Head of State, Azali Assoumani; and the Head of State of India, Draupadi Murmu.
High-ranking officials from the Foreign Ministry and representatives of the Angolan government received the delegations at the 4 de Fevereiro International Airport.
The main event of the 50th anniversary celebrations will take place under the motto “Angola: 50 Years of Independence, Unity, and Development” and is expected to bring together several heads of state and government, as well as regional and international partner organizations.
On Sunday, the Organizing Committee for the 50th Anniversary of National Independence held the final technical rehearsal for the main event to be held on the Avenida da República in Luanda.
Highlights of the November 11th event include a speech by Angolan President João Lourenço and the posthumous awarding of a commemorative medal to the first President of Angola, António Agostinho Neto.
