Africa-Press – Angola. Emmanuel Moreira Carneiro, former Minister of Planning, Trade, Finance and Planning in Angola between 1991 and 1999, died this Tuesday in Lisbon, Portuguese Republic. He also performed the functions of deputy minister of the Plan.
After the mission in the Government in which he stood out for the diligent way in which he carried out the tasks delegated to him, from 2003 to 2007, he dedicated himself to teaching at the Catholic Universities of Angola and Lusíada de Luanda and, in 2015, he performed the functions of Director- of the Higher Institute of Social Sciences and International Relations, in the Angolan capital.
Graduated in Economics from Universidade Agostinho Neto, Emmanuel Carneiro graduated, at master’s level, in the specialty of African Studies, at the Higher Institute of Sciences and Technologies in Lisbon, Portugal.
The life of the former ruler was also marked by the publication of the works “The Rendition Lace-up in Sub-Saharan Africa – an approach through political economy”, and “Sub-Saharan Africa, Half a Century After”.
By the way, the Political Bureau of the MPLA Central Committee considered today that it was “with a deep feeling of regret” that it learned of the death of Emmanuel Carneiro.
In a note to which Jornal de Angola had access, the MPLA highlights that this death “constitutes the loss of an eminent figure and, due to misfortune, it bows to the memory of the deceased, sending its deepest condolences to the bereaved family”.
