Africa-Press – Angola. The urn containing the body of the former President of the Republic, José Eduardo dos Santos, has been resting since yesterday in the tomb, built in Praça da República, in Luanda.

During the funeral, 21 cannon salutes were fired, maneuvers were carried out by vessels of the naval unit and Air Force planes were flown over.

The urn covered with the national flag was carried by guards of honor from the branches of the Defense and Security Forces, namely the Angolan Armed Forces, National Police, National Air Force and the Angolan Navy.

The tomb where José Eduardo dos Santos’ urn is deposited was built in a space of three thousand square meters, of which two thousand meters are reserved for landscaping.

On the outside (top) there is a dove that symbolizes peace, one of the greatest achievements of the former President of the Republic, left to the Angolan people.

The structure is also covered with marble and granite stones.

The funeral ceremony was attended by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, distinguished Heads of State and Government, members of the Executive, Sovereignty Bodies, religious entities, among other guests.
