Speaking during the tribute ceremony, held in Luanda, on behalf of the family, the children highlighted the role of the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, for the availability and sensitivity shown from the first moments of his passing, as well as the support of the First Lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenço, who remained close to the family throughout the entire process.
The family also expressed their gratitude for the presence of official entities, friends, activists, and citizens who attended the wake, with special mention of the ruling party’s OMA (Angolan Women’s Organization) members, whose songs and words of comfort helped to ease the pain of the loss.

They also highlighted the honoree’s journey through the various stages of Angola’s contemporary history, from national affirmation, through the period of conflict, to the peace achieved in 2002 and the country’s reconstruction phase.
