Africa-Press – Angola. Francisco Canga, candidate for the leadership of the PRA-JA Servir Angola party, called on Monday in Luanda for an environment of respect and free from intolerance in the party during and after the ordinary Congress from 18 to 22 May.

In brief statements to the press, after the submission act, the current secretary for Social Action of the party justified the candidacy with the intention of contributing to political alternation in Angola.

“Our candidacy is the result of a deep personal conviction, reinforced by countless appeals from activists and leaders who see in us courage, leadership and patriotic commitment”, he stated. On the occasion, Francisco Canga called for an environment free from intrigue, insults, violence or witch hunts, both before, during and after the Congress, in order to safeguard the party’s image and ensure success towards taking power in 2027.

When asked about his priorities if he is elected president, he said that the details are included in the electoral manifesto and interventions that will be presented in Congress. However, the candidate made some commitments, namely promoting internal unity within the party and consolidating it as a credible alternative for Angola in 2027.

When presenting the pillars of his candidacy, Francisco Canga highlighted his experience in civil society, trade unionism and politics as assets that he intends to put at the service of the party and the country. The candidate also mentioned his active involvement in the reconstruction of the party’s legalization process, where he demonstrated patriotism, tenacity, resilience and strategic vision.

“We are aware that the time has come to value the older generation and allow the new generation to take the reins of families, social organizations, political parties and the Angolan nation,” he highlighted.

On the occasion, Francisco Canga acknowledged the role of the party’s current general coordinator, Abel Chivukuvuku, highlighting his leadership and career, but argued that the moment requires a generational transition. “We are aware that the time has come to thank the older generation and allow the younger generation to take over the reins of families, social organizations, parties and the Nation,” he said.

United Patriotic Front

When asked about the United Patriotic Front, the candidate made it clear that if the coalition with the FPU is by aggregation, the head of the list must be from PRA-JA by coalition, the second names on the provincial lists must be the party’s provincial secretaries.

“We have an idea for PRA-JA Servir Angola and a vision for the country, on the basis of which we present ourselves as candidates”, he stressed. In statements to the press, the deputy coordinator of the Mandates Commission, Aurélio Cajamba, downplayed any tension in the process, ensuring that it was proceeding normally.

“We do not consider any incident to tarnish this act, the process is proceeding calmly and all the committees are functioning”, he assured. Born in the province of Zaire, municipality of Soyo, Francisco Canga is co-founder of PRA-JA Servir Angola, having previously served as provincial secretary and currently as secretary of Social Action.
