Africa-Press – Angola. The ambassador of Angola to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Frederico Manuel dos Santos e Silva Cardoso, was accredited Tuesday, at Al-Barakah Palace, as head of the non-resident diplomatic mission in the Sultanate of Oman, with the delivery of Letters of Credentials to the Chief of State in that country, Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik.

Tuesday’s ceremony was preceded by the delivery of the Figurative Letters, Sunday, two days before the Credential Letters. On that occasion, the representative of Angola in the Sultanate of Oman discussed with the head of the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, the state of diplomatic and cooperation relations between the two countries.

The Mining, Agriculture, Fisheries and Port Logistics sectors were identified as strategic and with high potential for the realization of partnerships and investments, within the framework of strengthening the cooperation relationship between both States.

The signing of a set of legal instruments in the fields of political consultations, exemption from visas in official passports, reciprocal protection of investments, elimination of double taxation, among others, appears to be the next step that could lay the foundations and encourage the strengthening of friendly and cooperative relations between Angola and Oman.

The Sultanate of Oman is an Arab country, located in the Middle East, a member of the Gulf Countries Cooperation Council, whose economy depends mainly on the export of oil and natural gas, and within the scope of its Strategic Development Plan (Vision 2040) intends to diversify the economy, establishing partnerships with other countries.

Oman has stood out for the implementation of an active and pragmatic policy of good neighborliness with all countries in the region and in the world, which has earned wide international recognition for its effective role as a conflict mediator.

Also on Tuesday, according to a press release, the ambassadors of Armenia, Australia, Bosnia Herzegovina, Côte d’Ivoire, New Zealand and Switzerland were also accredited.
