The Minister of National Defense, Former Combatants and Veterans of the Fatherland, João Ernesto dos Santos “Liberdade”, has been in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, since yesterday for a three-day official visit, as part of the strengthening of cooperation between the two countries in the field of Defense and Security.
According to a source at the Angolan Embassy in the Arab Republic of Egypt, the highlight of the working visit is the signing of an agreement between the parties tomorrow.
The ministerial agenda also includes visits to the Ministry of Military Production, the factory for developed industries, the vehicle department of the engineering industries complex, the monument to the late President Anwar Al-Sadat, a tribute to the Unknown Soldier and a visit to the House of the Armed Forces Financial Affairs Authority.
A visit to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization is also scheduled, a monument with a collection of 50 thousand artifacts, which tells the story of Egyptian civilization from the prehistoric period to the present day.
At the Angolan Embassy, João Ernesto dos Santos “Liberdade”, who is accompanied by the Secretary of State for the Defence Industry, General Afonso Neto, the National Director of Defence Policy, Lieutenant General Paulo Francisco, and the diplomatic advisor to the Minister of National Defence, Brigadier Silvestre Gustavo, will hold a courtesy meeting with diplomat Nelson Cosme.
Upon arrival, the minister received greetings from the Deputy Minister of Defense for the Border Guard, Commandos and Ex-Combatants and Veterans, and Development of Sinai, Emad Abdel Kader, from the Angolan ambassador to Egypt, Nelson Cosme, and from the Angolan Defense Attaché, Colonel José Pedro Mugimbo.
