The Council of Ministers approved, Thursday (3), the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM) for the province of Luanda, valued at 5,765,154,184,117.69 (five billion, seven hundred and sixty-five billion, one hundred and fifty four million, one hundred and eighty-four thousand and seventeen kwanzas and sixty-nine cents, to be implemented in 2,517 projects, during the five-year period 2023-2027.

The governor of Luanda, who was speaking to the press at the end of the Special Session of the Council of Ministers with the Government of the Province of Luanda, guided by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, clarified that with these funds projects linked to the various sectors will be carried out, highlighting Energy and Water, Health, Education, Communications, Infrastructure, Basic Sanitation (macro and micro-drainage), among others.

Manuel Homem indicated that the approved Plan will allow, in 2023, the projects that were paralyzed for a few years in the province of Luanda to be concluded and the new projects in the most varied areas to be implemented.

According to a document made available to the press, the Government of the Province of Luanda has a total of 2,517 projects, of which 251 are ongoing with costs estimated at 268,878,934,933.25 (two hundred and sixty-eight billion, eight hundred and seventy-eight million nine hundred and thirty-four thousand nine hundred and thirty-three kwanzas and twenty-five cents).

30 projects, estimated at 79,704,354,805.27 kwanzas, are on hold. Luanda has 2,236 new projects with a value of 5,416,570. 894, 379.17. The set of all these projects (ongoing, stalled and new) total 5,765,154,184,117.69 kwanzas.

The central bodies of the province have a total of 2,786 projects, of which 43 projects are in progress with amounts estimated at 1,387,294,171,882.14 Kz, 30 paralyzed projects worth 450,605,086,211.06 and 269 new projects valued at 6,260 .841,474,135,41.

Manuel Homem said that the value stipulated for the five-year period, GPL plus the Ministerial Departments, was approved at the global value of Kz 12,025,995,658,253.10 (Twelve billion, twenty five billion, nine hundred and ninety-five million, six hundred and fifty and eight thousand, two hundred and fifty-three kwanzas and ten cents).

According to the document that Jornal de Angola had access to, Luanda absorbed 48 percent of the budget and the Ministerial Departments 52 percent. According to the document, Luanda has 90 percent of the projects and the Ministerial Departments have 10 percent.

The governor of Luanda revealed that, for the next year, the province and the central bodies have available an amount of 309,186,260,087.03 (three hundred and nine billion, one hundred and eighty-six million, two hundred and sixty thousand and eighty-seven kwanzas and three cents) to be implemented in the construction of 27 new schools, rehabilitation of 36 and expansion of one.

In the Health sector, the construction of 29 new units, the equipping of 5 units, the acquisition of 15 ambulances, the expansion of one unit and the equipping of two units.

These funds will also cover projects in the Basic Sanitation, Energy, Youth and Sports, Infrastructures, Communications, Environment, Commerce and Industry, Defense and Security sectors, among other areas.

Only the province of Luanda has available in the General State Budget, for 2023, a total of 139,186,260,087.03 (one hundred and thirty-nine billion, one hundred and eighty-six million, two hundred and sixty thousand and eighty-seven kwanzas and three cents). ).

“The projects are included in the different programs that exist. What we did for the province of Luanda is to take the PIIM projects and the special projects that Luanda has and those included in the Public Investment Program (PIP) and the ordinary resource of the Treasury that the Ministries have to implement in the province of Luanda and the projects that Luanda also has to implement”, he said.

The PIIM programs or any other sub-program that the Government of Luanda has to implement, according to the official, will be monitored in an integrated manner in coordination with the Ministerial Departments for each project.

The governor said that he is aware of the needs that the province has in an integrated way and that is why the priorities of the projects have already been outlined.
