Africa-Press – Angola. The second phase of training provincial trainers for polling station staff members for the General Elections of August 24, 2022, started on Monday in Luanda.

There are 130 trainers from Luanda who will improve their knowledge, during five uninterrupted days of training on polling stations, preliminary operations, voting, counting of votes, filling in the summary minutes, rights and duties of electoral agents. Provincial commissioners, presidents of municipal electoral commissions, department and section heads of the Provincial Electoral Commission and provincial trainers participate in the training.

The coordinator for the Training area, Jamite André, appealed to the trainees to intelligently collect the information that will then be transmitted to others.

“We will all do our best so that information does not reach the citizen in a distorted way and that they are all endowed with knowledge, to know what the vote is, how to vote and who to vote for”, he pointed out.

The CNE plenary decided that the National Electoral Commission will recruit one hundred and five thousand nine hundred and fifty-two members, to work in the polling station tables. Members of polling stations are responsible for organizing, directing and coordinating the work, from opening, voting and counting. Six thousand agents, 385 provincial and 80 national trainers, are all over the national territory, involved in the Electoral Civic Education Campaign, with the mission of raising awareness among voters in towns, villages and communes.

The National Electoral Commission (CNE) is the body whose essential mission is to organize, coordinate, conduct and execute all electoral processes, based on the principles of independence, exemption, impartiality and transparency with a view to consolidating the Democratic State of Law, towards the development of Angola.
