Africa-Press – Angola. The new Political and Administrative Division (DPA) approved in August 2024 by the National Assembly is seen in Galangue, one of the former communes of Cuvango (Huíla), which became a municipality, as a factor that will reduce regional asymmetries and accelerate local progress.
According to the municipal administrator of Cuvango, Luís Paulo Ndala, who visited the town to prepare for the transition, there are guidelines from the Provincial Government that greater attention should be paid to the social sector.
For the administrator, the elevation of Galangue to a municipality will also reduce the distances that citizens travel to seek State administrative services.
In turn, Mário Ntyamba, 72 years old, who has lived in the town since he was born, says he believes in the growth of the new municipality, because it will have its own infrastructure to support economic and administrative development.
The retired teacher welcomes the new Political and Administrative Division and looks with optimism to the future of Galangue and its people.
With an estimated population of over 40,000 inhabitants, Galangue is 105 kilometers from Cuvango, a municipality located 356 kilometers east of Lubango, the capital of Huíla.
