Ganda administration bets on the social sector

Africa-Press – Angola. The Municipal Administration of Ganda, in Benguela province, has ninety projects in its portfolio to be implemented in the 2023/27 five-year period, in which the social sector stands out, this Monday.

According to the director of the Municipal Office of Studies, Planning and Statistics (GEPE), João Cafiele, the priority lies with the Education and Health sectors.

“For Education, it is planned to build 29 schools with seven, ten, fifteen and twenty classrooms, as well as evolutionary schools with three to four classrooms”, he informed.

João Cafiele added that 26 projects were prepared for Health.

As for the access roads, the secondary and tertiary ones of great importance will be intervened, such as the section that connects the communal headquarters of Casseque to the town of Cabala, where the Experimental Coffee Station is located, since there is a lot of production there and the flow is difficult.

The other route is the one that connects the commune of Babaera to Chicuma, as there is a perimeter of eucalyptus trees there.

The director also mentioned projects such as the rehabilitation and construction of water holes, as well as the placement of small electricity production systems in the communes.

PIIM projects

As for the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM), the GEPE director said he had five completed projects, three in progress and one to start.

Projects completed include a seven-room school in the municipality’s headquarters, another similar one in the Babaera commune, equipping the municipal hospital in Ganda, purchasing a basic sanitation kit and earthworks for a 32-kilometre stretch in Chicuma.

On ongoing projects, João Cafiele pointed out the construction works for seven classrooms in the Ebanga commune, the completion and equipping of the Chimboa police station and the rehabilitation of the 5.93 kilometer section in the Chicuma commune.

Still on these works, the official highlighted the little technical and financial capacity of the contractors, despite acknowledging that there has been some delay in the payment of the invoices sent by him.

However, he admitted that these are already at a very advanced level, in terms of physical execution.

The equipping of hospital centers in all communes is yet to start.

“This project has not yet started because we are in the phase of observing some contractual procedures and as soon as it is finished, the dossier will be sent to Luanda”, he informed.
