Africa-Press – Angola. The Culture sector in the municipality of Ganda, Benguela province, is carrying out actions to rescue traditional dances such as mussa, tchingange and lundungo, which are on the verge of extinction.
According to the director of Culture, Tourism, Leisure, Youth and Sports, Moisés Borges Kinda, the sector he directs has been moving to the most remote areas to bring artists to the municipal headquarters, in order to pass on the legacy to youth.
He regretted the fact that some of them did not show interest in rescuing “such an important cultural symbol”, but he has the challenge of convincing them and taking them to those regions to learn the aforementioned dances.
Twelve groups are currently registered that prepare, by their own means, their instruments, such as drums, rattles and others. As institutional support, they only receive cloth for the execution of their clothes and spaces for exhibition.
The person in charge said that those dance styles, mainly mussa, which is more representative, have already been publicized in important events, such as Carnival, celebrated recently and in some ephemeris, where provincial or national delegations of the Government and also of Non-Governmental Organizations appear. Governmental.
As for the theater and music modalities, he said that there is a project for the recovery of talents, through the carrying out of activities where the best are chosen.
“With the support of the National Union of Artists and Composers (UNAC) we have registered fourteen theater groups and more than one hundred musicians”, he emphasized.
He said, however, that the greatest constraint that artists face is the lack of adequate infrastructure to carry out activities.
“There is only one recreation center, which is still partially degraded, although there is already a project to be rehabilitated”, he explained.
The financial component is another problem for the sector, giving the impression that nothing is being done, according to the director.
Tourism sector needs further promotion
The municipal director for Culture and Tourism said that greater incentives are needed for the population of the province and not only to get into the habit of visiting tourist areas in Ganda, such as Atuque, a natural lake located on top of a mountain.
The Dongoroca river, with beautiful landscapes, which formerly, in free time, hosted many picnics, the experimental coffee area, the clear waters of Alto Catumbela, Zootécnica, among others, are tourist spots to be explored, according to the director.
For the recovery of the sector, he revealed that the municipal administration is working on a master plan, with the help of university technicians, to catalog the tourist areas and enhance them, to later attract investments and “better sell the image of the municipality ”.
Despite everything, he guaranteed that some national citizens who know various tourist areas, as well as foreigners, mainly Portuguese, have visited the most frequented areas.
Sport depends on incentives
The development of Sport in the municipality of Ganda is encountering many barriers due to lack of investment.
The municipal director informed that there are only three sports courts, one of which is located about eight kilometers from the municipal seat, while the football modality only benefits from the 28 de Junho Municipal Stadium.
“We have difficulties in developing basketball, soccer, volleyball and indoor soccer. However, for the latter, a municipal championship will soon start, where we will mobilize students from the first and second cycles “, he warned.
For this purpose, sports equipment and balls have already been awarded to the teams, according to Moisés Kinda.
