Africa-Press – Angola. Angola will receive from the Global Fund (FG), by the end of this year, US$82 million to combat diseases such as HIV-AIDS, Malaria and Tuberculosis, as part of the reinforcement of the national health system.
The information was disclosed yesterday, in Luanda, to the press, by the senior manager of the Global Fund in Angola, Joshua Galjour, at the end of the meeting with the first vice-president of the National Assembly (AN), Américo Cuononoca, at the seat of Parliament.
Joshua Galjour indicated that the referred amount will be made available according to a work plan, elaborated at the country level and negotiated with the main donors.
“Angola is showing a good rate of absorption of funds, which is very important for the Global Fund, given that our institution is based on programmatic and financial performance”, he said. The senior manager of the Global Fund in Angola also announced that the institution has financed, over the last three years, a US$105 million program to combat HIV-AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria and Covid-19, noting that the financing has helped to improve the health conditions of the population in the provinces of Cuanza-Sul and Benguela.
He referred to the recent visit he made to the provinces of Cuanza-Sul and Benguela, in which he assessed the state of execution of the projects underway for eight months. The provinces of Benguela and Cuanza-Sul, he informed, are home to the main projects of the GF, aimed at a total of 5 million people.
The Global Fund, Angola’s largest donor in the health sector, is an international financial organization that aims to attract and distribute additional resources to prevent and treat infectious diseases.
