Africa-Press – Angola. The implementation of the portfolio of the Integrated Intervention Plan in Municipalities (PIIM), in three years of execution, consumed 585 billion kwanzas, announced this Monday in Luanda, the Secretary of State for Local Authorities, Márcio Daniel .

According to the official, who was speaking to the press at the end of the 1st ordinary meeting of the Interministerial Commission for the Implementation of the PIIM, of the 2,665 projects in the 18 provinces of the country, 935 were concluded, while 556 have an execution above 77 percent.

Márcio Daniel stressed that at the beginning, the program had a portfolio of 1,749 projects, 85 percent of which have been completed and others scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2023, stressing that the education and health sectors continue to have priority .

Education, he added, included 773 projects, with great prevalence for the construction of schools with seven classrooms, in a total of 365, with 12 classrooms.

In the field of health, 387 projects are registered, with a prevalence for health posts, health centers and municipal hospitals, he explained.

He clarified that the primary network has prevalence in the PIIM, of 124 health posts, 114 health centers and 52 municipal hospitals.

“For primary health care, we are predicting close to 5,800 hospital beds that will be made available to the population in this plan”, he underlined.

In terms of execution of works, he pointed out the provinces of Huíla, Bié, Namibe, Cunene with projects in advanced stage and about to be concluded.

The Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM) aims to materialize Public Investment actions (PIP), Development Support Expenditure (DAD) and Basic Activities (Act), with priority given to actions of a social nature, so as to to inhibit rural exodus and promote more inclusive economic, social and regional growth in the country.

This Plan aims to increase the autonomy of the 164 municipalities in Angola within the scope of the policy of deconcentration and decentralization of administrative competences and, in this way, increase the quality of life throughout the national territory.
