Africa-Press – Angola. The Provincial Command of the National Police in Benguela was reinforced with new vehicles, six vehicles and twenty-two motorcycles, to combat crime.
On the initiative of the Government of Benguela, the gesture aims to boost the corporation with equipment that allows a faster response to requests from citizens and better inspection of the seafront of the main cities of the province.
On the occasion, Governor Luís Nunes asked the police staff to take care of the means and that they can contribute to the maintenance of public safety and tranquility.
Speaking to the press, the provincial commander of the PN in Benguela, commissioner Aristófanes dos Santos, said that the referred means will reinforce the operational and reaction capacity of the forces.
The official commissioner informed that 20 motorcycles of 150 cc will reinforce the Reaction and Patrol Unit (URP), and the vehicles will circulate in the urban area, with priority for the lower area of the municipality of Lobito.
In the same vein, he said that the municipality of Baía Farta was also awarded a vehicle and two motorcycles, which should be posted at the Baía Azul police station, to safeguard patrols in that tourist area.
Aristófanes dos Santos also said that in recent days the number of people going to Praia Morena had increased and, given some less good cases recorded in that area, this was also contemplated with a vehicle for its policing.
However, the municipal administrator of Benguela, Paula Marisa, hopes that the media can contribute to a more convincing response from the PN to the clamors of the citizens.
