Africa-Press – Angola. The Government of Bié reiterated, in the city of Cuito, the continuous commitment to local writers, in order to produce more and more works, to make the province one of the best in the country where the habit of reading is cultivated.
Speaking at the provincial act commemorating the World Book and Copyright Day, marked this Sunday, the director of the Provincial Office for Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports of Bié, Afonso Belo Sanguvila, referred that the government wants the population to have more the habit of reading, which would involve greater support for bien writers.
The person in charge praised the commitment of bieno writers in materializing the publication of works, despite the difficulties they face.
The coordinator of the Angolan Literature Association in Bié, Manuel Chimalanga, assured that this organization will continue to support the release of works by writers and the discovery of new talents.
Local writers, who attended the festivities, including Álvaro Alves, Adilson Sawamba, Aristides Yandelela, Figueiredo Sawombe, Lino Fernando, called for an end to the illicit reproduction of manuals and more support from the Government.
World Book and Copyright Day was established by UNESCO in 1995, with the main objective of encouraging populations to cultivate the habit of reading and respecting copyright.
