Government plans to mobilize resources for the green economy

Africa-Press – Angola. The Government intends to mobilize international and national resources to boost the country’s green economy, assured, Wednesday, in Luanda, the director general of the Debt Management Unit of the Ministry of Finance, Dorivaldo Teixeira.

Speaking at the forum on the challenges of social and environmental governance in the Angolan financial sector, he underlined that the conditions for issuing sustainable financing have been created.

“We have the conditions created and we understand the financing terms and the appetite of those who will finance us. In the current context, the financial markets are not very stable, we do not escape this context either”, she emphasized.

Dorivaldo Teixeira points out that there are initiatives developed by the State itself, in terms of financing and public investment, with a focus on the component of social, environmental and governance financing.

“Our operational framework was recently approved by the Council of Ministers and is already published in the Diário da República. It is a guide that demonstrates the steps that the State will have to take to guarantee the financing of initiatives that respect these principles”, he stressed.

According to him, this operational framework already respects the green principles of international organizations, being formatted in a vision of a State project.

He assured that, in the green component, the objectives are properly defined, with projects of “renewable energies, sustainable use of water and protection of the environment, and in terms of the social component we have education, health, empowerment of the vulnerable population, as well as the promotion of entrepreneurship and youth employment”.

The green economy is an economy that seeks to reduce environmental risks and ecological scarcity, and that aims at sustainable development, without the degradation of the environment.

The concept of green economy was formulated in an attempt to show that sustainable development and economic development are not contradictory and that they can become complementary.
