Africa-Press – Angola. The provincial governor of Benguela, Luís Nunes, reaffirmed, in this city, the commitment of the Angolan Government to continue supporting the growth of the agricultural sector.
The government official was speaking at the opening of the agricultural fair and exhibition that brings together, in the enclosure adjacent to the national stadium in Ombaka, 90 exhibitors, including cooperatives and associations, and 35 different agribusiness companies.
According to the governor, the growth and positive evolution of this sector is visible, as a result of investments made by entrepreneurs in the creation and optimization of farms and production centers, acquisition of breeding animals, equipment, as well as specialized advice.
Luís Nunes stressed that these investments in inland areas have allowed the creation of jobs, as well as the sharing of scientific knowledge with local pastoral communities, which results in changing the health conditions of indigenous herds.
The governor also said that these actions have also allowed the opening of channels for sales and marketing, contributing to the improvement of the living conditions of the populations in the areas involved, where cattle constitute one of the great riches, also playing a primordial role from the point of view socio-cultural point of view of these rural communities.

For the official, the development of livestock represents a source of wealth and stability, given its importance in improving the standard of living of the families involved, and an important weapon in the fight against poverty and rural exodus, as well as in supplying the large centers urban.
He said, on the other hand, that the natural and geographic conditions of the region represent a great competitive advantage for the diversification of the economy, being fundamental to follow a development plan in which the State has a driving role, where the private sector will be the great actor.
Luís Nunes took the opportunity to exhort businessmen in the farming and fishing sector to improve their organizational mechanisms, in order to become eligible within the scope of the major programs designed by the Angolan Executive.
In his view, these programs appear to be catalysts for the activities carried out by the local business community to become more robust and sufficiently capable of guaranteeing economic stability, as well as fostering job creation, where youth will be the greatest beneficiaries.
The agricultural fair and exhibition will run until Sunday and ends with a cattle auction.
