Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of State and Head of the Military House of the President of the Republic, Francisco Furtado, praised, this Thursday, in Luanda, the patriotism of Agostinho Neto, reflected in love, respect and the desire to serve the country.

Speaking at the closing lecture of the days celebrating National Hero’s Day (17 September), held in the centrality of Marconi, Cazenga, the government official said that these were the assumptions that guided the actions of the first President of Angola to elevate the country to the highest level.

“After completing his degree, Agostinho Neto, if he didn’t have love for his country, could have abandoned the fight for national independence and lived off his profession outside of Angola, but he didn’t,” he said.

For Francisco Furtado, only a patriot like Agostinho Neto would have dedicated his entire life to his country.

For this reason, he urged young people to dedicate themselves to study, work, good practices, within the family and at school, with behavior that promotes their social and human development, to make the country grow.

He said that many are unaware of Agostinho Neto’s career as a politician, poet, leader and soldier, due to the fact that they are young, a generation that did not have the opportunity to follow his journey.

For the president of the Association of Organizations for Activities and Support for the Needy, Francisco Ambriz, the meeting served to remember Neto’s memory, from a patriotic and moralistic point of view.

He added that, currently, there are critical moments, such as non-respect for the symbols of the Republic, sexual abuse of minors, domestic violence and other evils.

Participating in the lecture, promoted by the Association for Organization of Activities and Support for the Needy, in partnership with the Ministry of the Interior, members of civil society, traditional authorities and students.
