Africa-Press – Angola. The provincial governor of Cunene, Gerdina Didalelwa, announced this Tuesday the execution of 152 social projects in the region, within the scope of the approval of the General State Budget (OGE) for the financial year of 2023.
Speaking at the political act in salute to the 4th of April, Day of Peace and National Reconciliation, the official said that the OGE approved for this year prioritizes the completion of projects registered at the central and local levels, with emphasis on the construction of the Provincial Delegation of Interior, of the 450 social houses and respective infrastructures.
He also pointed out the construction of the Integrated Public Security Center (CISP), rehabilitation of National Road 120, the Ondjiva/Omala section, completion of the rehabilitation works on the Cahama/Otchjijau and OncoĢcua (Curoca) sections, construction and equipping of the Higher Institute of Ondjiva , between others.
In addition, he highlighted Presidential Dispatch 44/23 of March 10, which authorizes the expenditure for the construction of National Road 372, the Kaiundo/Anhanga section, 218.48 km long, including the construction of bridges.
The governor noted that the Executive has in mind the preparation of the implementation of the Integrated Plan of Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM2), which will focus on the construction of productive infrastructures, improvement of communication routes, energy and water and professionalized schools.
He justified that these actions aim to enhance the capacities and abilities of planning and modernization of cities and towns, with a view to supporting economic and social development.
He recalled that, after achieving peace, the country and the province in particular have taken significant steps towards development, “despite the difficulties inherent in the economic and financial situation of recent years”.
According to the source, the Executive has been implementing several projects aimed at combating hunger and poverty and the growth of the local business community.
He also referred to the Executive’s commitment to bringing services closer to communities, reducing the number of children outside the education system and other policies aimed at promoting self-employment, among others, to guarantee social well-being.
He announced that, soon, the General Hospital of Ondjiva will be inaugurated, which will translate into the improvement of patient care and the provision of more health services to the population.
On the other hand, he said that of the 119 projects registered in the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM), 69 have already been completed and delivered to the population. .
With one million and 491 inhabitants, the province of Cunene has six municipalities and 20 communes.
