Governor announces works in Castilhos

Africa-Press – Angola. The football field in the municipality of Castilhos, southern Cunene province, will benefit from rehabilitation works this year, announced this Friday the local governor, Gerdina Didalelwa.

To this end, the government made available one hundred and eight million kwanzas, within the framework of the actions of the Development Support Expenditures for the financial year of 2023.

Speaking at the commemorative act of the National Youth Day, marked April 14, the minister said that conditions are being created for the improvement of the synthetic grass field in Castilhos, creating multiple valences so that youth have access to sports facilities of quality.

Without specifying the start of the works, he said that the forecast is for the rehabilitation of the football field in Castilhos, as well as two multi-sports courts in the Caxila III neighborhoods and in the youth house, for the practice of various indoor sports.

He also pointed out the acquisition of sports equipment of different modalities for the promotion and massification of local sport.

“We are aware that it is not enough and we need to do a lot, but the important thing is that we are taking firm and solid steps towards the creation of sports structures”, he said.

It should be noted that the Castilhos field needs work on resizing the court, improving the pavement, placing the goals, fencing, repairing the changing rooms and service areas, benches, among others.

Built before independence, it has a side stand with a capacity of 500 seats, and already benefited from a restructuring in 2014, with the application of synthetic grass and fence.

The province of Cunene has two fields with synthetic turf, located in the city of Ondjiva, as well as 11 “peeled” clay fields at municipal level.
