Africa-Press – Angola. The governor of Huambo province, Lotti Nolika, reiterated, this Sunday, the appeal to the churches in order to actively contribute to actions to preserve peace and consolidate national reconciliation in Angola.
Lotti Nolika was speaking at the ecumenical service of thanksgiving to God for the 21st anniversary of peace in Angola, to be celebrated this Tuesday, April 4th, under the motto: “21 years of peace – building a better Angola”.
When reminding those present about the benefits of peace, considered one of the greatest assets for Angolans, he said that the process of its preservation requires the involvement of all the living forces of society.
Accordingly, he said, the churches, as the main partners of the State, are, once again, called to get involved in this process, to consolidate, every day, the peace conquered with much sacrifice.

“Therefore, I want, on behalf of the Government of Huambo, to appeal to the participation of all churches in maintaining peace and building the common good of the province”, he reinforced.
In turn, the moderator of the Council of Christian Churches in Angola (CICA) in Huambo, Pastor Euclides dos Santos, described, during the service, the conquest of peace by the Angolans as a divine blessing that must be preserved, constantly thanking the God.

The religious appealed, on the other hand, to those responsible for political parties to cultivate, among their militants, mutual respect and coexistence in difference, having also discouraged young people from practices that compromise the social and political stability of the country, as well as damage to public property.
The ecumenical worship was attended by faithful from different religious denominations, duly recognized, based in the province of Huambo.

Peace in Angola resulted from the Complementary Memorandum of Understanding to the Lusaka Protocol, signed between the Angolan Government and UNITA, on April 4, 2002, in the city of Luena, Moxico province.
