Africa-Press – Angola. The governor of Cuanza Norte province, Pedro Makita Júlia, appealed this Saturday (08), in Ndalatando, capital of Cuanza Norte province, to citizens to promote forgiveness, harmony and concord to preserve peace.

Speaking at the Ecumenical Service of Thanksgiving in Favor of Peace, he stated that differences between citizens should be defended and respected, as well as love between brothers and sisters as God loved men.

Pedro Makita Júlia thanked for holding the mass and the massive presence of the people of God at the event, a fact that, he noted, demonstrates the will and importance of continuing to promote and preserve this good.

“The preservation of peace is the responsibility of all Angolans. With peace, which does not just mean the silencing of weapons, we can travel from Cabinda to Cunene without anyone harming us”, he stressed.

The leader considered that after the National Independence, proclaimed on 11 November 1975, conquered with blood, sweat and sacrifice of the best sons of Angola, peace constitutes the second greatest conquest of Angolans that must be exalted and praised by all.

In his sermon, Reverend Rosa Carlos, from the Pentecostal church of Ndalatando, called for a change in the mentality of citizens, above all, of youth who promote actions aimed at exalting hatred, disagreements instead of love and peace.

He explained that citizens should continue to hope for better days and know how to recognize the advances that the country has registered since the achievement of peace on April 4, 2002, facts that contrast with the deplorable conditions experienced in wartime.

He explained that citizens should forget the past and focus on the future, working with dedication and humility so that everyone has bread to live on.

The secretary of the Provincial Youth Council (CPJ) in Cuanza Norte, Gaspar Francisco Domingos, said that the initiative of Christian movements in the province, in addition to interceding with God to give thanks for the preservation of peace, it also aims to call the reason of the citizens to rethink about the attitudes that aim to pinch the peace.

For the youth leader, young people should know the importance of peace for the realization of their dreams, committing themselves to academic and professional training in order to satisfy their basic needs and not opt for acts that create social pressure and discomfort in the country .

The Worship promoted by the Inter-ecclesiastical Commission of Cuanza Norte (CIECN), allowed the religious to intercede to God through prayers, songs and praises for the preservation of peace in Angola.

The event, held at Cine Ndalatando, was attended by leaders and believers from the United Methodist, Bom Deus, Evangelical Baptist and Pentecostal churches, as well as members of the government and civil society and traditional entities
