Governor of Cuanza-Norte wants greater transparency in Public Administration

Africa-Press – Angola. The provincial governor of Cuanza-Norte, João Diogo Gaspar, demanded (Wednesday), in the municipality of Lucala, greater transparency and dynamism in Public Administration bodies.

Transparency, he stated, is only possible with discipline and rigor and with help and control in all administrations in the province, so that public affairs are well applied.

João Diogo Gaspar, who spoke at the opening of the Lucala Municipal Council for Social Inquiry, warned that any manager who does not take care of public funds will be held responsible.

He recalled that the Angolan State has its own mechanisms to control, monitor and take measures against those who practice harmful management.

The province of Cuanza-Norte, he noted, is very prosperous and public managers must be the focus of development for a better quality of life for the population.

He recommended permanent dialogue with the population for the implementation of public projects, focusing on local governance.

On the same occasion, the governor denounced that the municipality of Lucala has a record of several cases of vandalization of property and requested the population’s support in preserving them.

João Diogo Gaspar urged citizens to be more vigilant and report those who choose to damage public property, in order to prevent the government from continuing to spend funds on the same investments.

“Schools, hospitals and other public infrastructure belong to all Angolans”, he noted, stating that anyone who wants a prosperous Angola must preserve them.

At the meeting, the deputy municipal administrator, Isaías Cateco, informed that the municipality needs eight more schools with seven classrooms each to accommodate more than a thousand children outside the education system.

In the health sector, he highlighted the need to build a new municipal hospital with several services.

He said that the current one, built in colonial times, is incompatible with patient demand.

In addition to the inhabitants of Lucala, the unit assists people from the towns of Quizenga and Cacuso, in the province of Malanje.

He also pointed out the need for a morgue and an incinerator for better functioning of the hospital.

Despite being crossed by one of the largest rivers in the country (Lucala), he said, the municipality has a deficit in drinking water supply.

This situation, according to the deputy administrator, leads the population to consume untreated water, which has been the cause of several diseases.

Governor João Diogo Gaspar’s trip to Lucala is part of the tour program to the 10 municipalities of the province, in order to learn about the investment actions underway and to assess the main problems that affect the population.

This is the governor’s first tour of the municipalities since he was appointed to the position in January of this year.

The person responsible has already visited the municipalities of Banga, Bolongongo, Quiculungo and Samba Caju, where he presided over local Social Consultation Councils.

Located 37 kilometers from Ndalatando (capital of the province) and with a territorial extension of 1,718 square kilometers, Lucala is a municipality in Cuanza-Norte made up of two communes (sede and Quiangombe), which are home to an estimated population of 26,080 inhabitants.
