Africa-Press – Angola. The Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication (MINTTICS) is committed to the implementation of policies and programs to increase the digital inclusion of young people, especially girls, as well as the development of skills and technical and professional education and training initiatives.
In a press release, alluding to the International Day of Girls and ICT, which is celebrated today, MINTTICS advances that Africa has the largest digital gender gap (25 percent) and only 29 percent of women have access to the Internet in Africa. West, against 46 percent in Asia and 57 percent in Latin America.
The Ministry notes that with technology playing a role in all types of careers, from art and history to law, primary education and graphic design, learning technical skills at an early age will create girls for economic independence.
According to the document, 65 percent of children entering primary school today will have jobs that do not yet exist, noting that the jobs of the future will be implemented by innovative technology.
“The Angolan Government, through the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, has supported the inclusion of girls and boys with special educational needs, by providing schools with multidisciplinary support teams, educational inclusion and educational software that allow curiosity and learning, based on ICT”, says the press release.
MINTTICS, in greeting to the anniversary, is holding, today, at the Luanda Media Library, the XI Forum of the Day of Girls and ICT, under the motto “Access and security”, which will feature technological exhibitions by young women students from ITEL, IMIL and Alda Lara.
