Africa-Press – Angola. The solo exhibition by the plastic artist Guizef, open from Monday to the 31st of this month, marks the closing of the Temporary Art Exhibitions Gallery of the Angola Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, which closes on the same day.

In the art exhibition, curated by Carla Peairo, the artist Guizef presents a set of 11 large and medium-format works painted in acrylic on canvas, in a style with classical realistic influences.

Two of his paintings (120 x 95 cm) depict the image of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and his son, Prince Hamdam bin Mohammed Al Maktoum.

The artist presents themes that appeal to family unity and the passing of testimony to the future generation, a “sine qua non” condition in the Angolan cultural heritage, reflected in the works of art “Kazukuta” and “Ritmo de Angola”.

Guizef also addresses his concern with the importance that we must give to education even in difficult situations, in the works “Vision for a better future”, where a child studies by candlelight, and “Let’s go to the future”.

The Giant Sable Antelope is present in this exhibition with the title “O Protector da Nação” which for the artist is the symbol that best represents and identifies Angolans.

In his artistic vision, African culture embodies an inexhaustible source of inspiration for each of his creations, both in painting and sculpture.

Guizef, artistic name of Augusto Zeferino, was born in Ambriz, in the province of Ben-go, on January 12, 1969. A self-taught artist, Guizef has art as a gift and passion. He is a member of the National Union of Angolan Plastic Artists (UNAP).

In November 2019 he participated in the collective exhibition “Sky One”, Espaço Art. Edifício Sky One Luanda.

His work “Mãe Alegre”, in acrylic on canvas, was recently offered by President João Lourenço to the Pope Pontiff.

Guizef thus closes with a flourish the schedule of art exhibitions at the Pavilhão de Angola Gallery at Expo2020Dubai, which presented 19 plastic artists and 15 individual and collective shows for six months.
