Africa-Press – Angola. The national junior men’s handball team will face on Tuesday (12 noon) a similar team from the Faroe Islands, for the first round (group D), of the 24th World Cup of the modality, to be played in Germany and Greece.
Angola, technically supervised by William de Almeida, will compete in group D, based in the city of Magderburg, in Germany, alongside the Faroe Islands (20/6), Spain (champion in title, on Thursday / 22 ) and Japan (Friday /23).
During the 15-day pre-competitive training camp in Portugal, the national team twice beat Korea (28-21 and 37-18) and overcame FC Porto’s youth team (36-30).
It drew with the other Portuguese team from Ismae (27-27) and lost twice to the similar Portuguese team (29-33 and 26-29), respectively.
It should be noted that the delegation led by the vice-president of the Angolan Handball Federation (FAND), Domingos do Nascimento, is due to visit the venue today.
This is the fourth presence of Angola, in a World Championship of the category, after Macedonia (2007), Bosnia Herzegovina (2013) and Brazil (2015), in the last one it occupied the twentieth position, among 24 countries.
