Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, Monday, sent a message to Recep Tayyip Erdogan, for his electoral victory for another term at the head of the destinies of the Republic of Turkey.

“I am convinced that his re-election is the reaffirmation of the trust that the Turkish people place in him, for believing in the deep reach of the policies that he has been carrying out, with visible successes, aimed at building and consolidating a prosperous and developed Turkish nation” , refers to the message that was also published on the Presidency of the Republic page on the social network Facebook.

President João Lourenço finally expressed the desire to see the two governments committed to the continuous deepening of bilateral relations during President Erdogan’s next term.

According to the election results, the current Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, was re-elected in the second round of the election, which took place on Sunday (28), with 52.54 percent.

Diplomatic relations between Angola and Turkey date back to 1980 and are supported by cooperation agreements in the Fisheries, Education, Science and Technology, Oil and Gas, Industry and Agriculture sectors.

Turkey exports wheat, machinery, household appliances, hospital and health material, among others, to Angola. In the opposite direction, wood, ferrous scrap and aluminum are shipped.

Political-diplomatic relations were strengthened in 2008, with bilateral cooperation, the year in which the Commercial, Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement was signed in Ankara (Turkey).

In addition to other instruments, the two States have signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the aeronautical authorities, as well as a Verbal Process of the First Session of the Joint Commission on Trade, Economic and Technical Cooperation.
