Africa-Press – Angola. The Head of State and acting president of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (CIRGL), João Lourenço, held, on Monday afternoon (7), a telephone conversation with his counterpart from the Democratic Republic of Congo ( DRC), Félix Tshisekedi, with whom he discussed the situation related to the tension that the country is currently experiencing with Rwanda.

According to a note published on the website of the Presidency of the Republic, on the subject, the conversation between the two statesmen followed the tripartite ministerial meeting held last Saturday, in Luanda, which brought together the heads of diplomacy from the DRC, Rwanda and Angola.

During the conversation, the note continues, Presidents João Lourenço and Félix Tshisekedi exchanged views on the matters dealt with in the Angolan capital, either by the ministers or by the security experts of the three countries.

“The deterioration of the security climate in eastern Democratic Congo has forced an intensification of diplomatic efforts by Angola, in the person of its President, especially in the capacity of mediator”, reads the note published on the website of the Presidency of the Republic.
