Africa-Press – Angola. The Health Fair held on Saturday at Rua da Dona Amália, in the Rangel Urban District, in Luanda, with the aim of bringing health services closer to the population, exceeded expectations, according to the organization’s source.

It was expected to serve just over 500 people, but 1,582 consultations were carried out, free of charge, in Medicine, Gynecology and Obstetrics, Family Planning, Pediatrics, Otorhinolaryngology and Nutrition.

During the fair there were 39 cases of hypertensive crisis, 29 of acute respiratory diseases, 25 of malaria and 20 of arterial hypertension.

86 malaria tests were carried out, of which 79 with negative results, and 194 citizens were vaccinated, of which 81 against Covid-19.

The fair allowed 322 women to have Family Planning consultations and 518 medical prescriptions to be answered, as well as the distribution of chlorine for the treatment of drinking water.

The coordinator of the “Living with Health” project, Mário Cardoso, told Jornal de Angola that 36 technicians were mobilized, including doctors, nurses, pharmacists and analysts.

Bela Jorge, a citizen, applauded the initiative, adding that, often, the health centers in the neighborhood are not able to help the population.

For João Banga, another resident, initiatives of this kind should be extended to more districts of Luanda, in order to allow several families to take their children to consultations.
