Health Ministry Launches Mosquito Net Project in Bié

Africa-Press – Angola. The Ministry of Health presented on Wednesday, in Cuito, Bié province, a project to distribute long-lasting insecticide-treated mosquito nets, which will take place in September and November this year.

At the presentation, the representative of the National Directorate of Public Health and Endemic Disease Control, Mazambi Ferreira, emphasised that the project plans to distribute 1,166,792 mosquito nets in Bié province as part of strategies to reduce morbidity and mortality rates within communities.

According to him, 80 per cent of households will receive mosquito nets to achieve the goal and prevent mosquito bites, the main cause of malaria.

Mazambi Ferreira said that the project aims to coordinate efforts to eliminate malaria in the country.
