Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan Embassy in South Africa reported this Sunday that the Bombardier Das-8 Q400, D2-EUQ aircraft, operated by Heli Malongo, was authorized to take off from Cape Town International Airport to return to Luanda.

In a press release, the Embassy states that the operational procedure of the crew, to land, last Friday, before receiving confirmation to that effect, caused embarrassment to the management of the International Airport of the City of the Cape.

As the operator of the flight, Heli Malongo made the request for authorization to fly over and land on South African territory, but “did not wait long enough to obtain a response”, which is why the local authorities did not allow the crew to , composed of five elements, came out of the device, thus preventing passengers from boarding. The aircraft traveled to South Africa to pick up 20 passengers from the oil company Chevron, who were stranded in Cape Town, due to the cancellation of flights by TAAG, Linhas Aéreas de Angola.

According to the press release, the Angolan Embassy, ​​as soon as it became aware of the event, immediately contacted, within the scope of political-diplomatic mechanisms, the Department of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa. The diplomatic mission managed to normalize the situation and, at the moment, the plane is returning to the country.

“The Angolan Embassy is grateful for the prompt collaboration of the Department of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa to overcome the situation and praises the excellent relations between the two countries”, concludes the press release.
